Research Technician Molecular Cell Biology and Immunology
Job Summary: The research group led by Dr. Joke den Haan generates cancer nanovaccines targeted to macrophages or dendritic cells. This project involves producing recombinant protein vaccines consisting of nanobodies and cancer antigens, funded by a NWO Open technology grant. The role is part of the Cancer Center Amsterdam and the Amsterdam Institute for Immunology and Infectious Diseases.
Responsibilities: Produce nanobodies and cancer antigens; purify them using IMAC affinity chromatography and size-exclusion chromatography; test the binding of these vaccines to antigen-presenting cells; and assess their capacity to activate T cells.
Qualifications and Requirements: HLO or MSc degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, or pharmaceutics; extensive experience with molecular biological and biochemical techniques such as cloning, SDS PAGE, western blot, ELISA, FPLC, and HPLC; experience with recombinant protein/nanobody production in E.coli and/or mammalian systems, protein purification by IMAC and size-exclusion chromatography, and maleimide/NHS-ester conjugations; experience with transfection and transduction of cell lines and primary T cells, analyzed by flow cytometry; excellent communication skills in English; and excellent collaboration and organizational skills.
What the Employer Offers: A contract for 12 months with the intention to extend; salary scale 7M: €3,064 to €4,340 gross per month based on full-time employment; 190.4 holiday hours per year for full-time; pension accrual; travel cost reimbursements; and a stimulating work environment in an international team.
