Job Summary
The Associate Director of the Office of Transformative Student Experiences provides cross-cohort leadership and operational oversight for student success programs serving low-income, first-generation, international, and high-achieving undergraduate students. This role ensures consistent quality and alignment across the Opportunity Scholars Program, First Ascent Scholars, Rising Business Leaders, and related student initiatives. Responsibilities include supporting programs with recruitment, programming, assessment, budget, scholarship management, and supervision of program staff.
In partnership with the Director, program staff, and advisory boards, the Associate Director fosters student success by ensuring smooth transition into the university, connecting students to academic and personal support resources, encouraging engagement in transformative learning opportunities, and supporting on-time graduation. This position reports directly to the Director of the Office of Transformative Student Experiences.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the management of day-to-day programmatic operations for the different cohort programs by way of overseeing and supporting Program Managers.
- Ensure students' needs are met by managing logistical oversight of U of U student platforms and scheduling management systems.
- Support the design and implementation of student programming and educational events that enhance leadership, academic, and professional development.
- Collaborate with program staff to develop and execute recruitment and retention strategies for students across all cohorts.
- Works as lead partner with Marketing & Communication to develop a communications strategy across all cohort programs.
- Foster collaboration across programs to reduce silos, align resources, and ensure consistency in program quality.
- Ensure students across programs successfully transition to the university environment and have access to necessary resources to be successful (tutoring, academic advising, career coaching, and technology support).
- Nurtures collaborative relationships with Eccles Schools and university community members to connect students with opportunities for deep learning and expansion of network.
- Helps build student pathways throughout undergraduate student offices, resources, events and opportunities in the David Eccles School of Business.
- Works with the Director to assess and collect data across all programs to measure program impact, outcomes, and scholarship effectiveness, and uses results to drive continuous improvement.
- As requested, collaborates with the Director to prepare data, stories, and impact reports.
- May be asked to participate as an ex-officio member of the different Board of Advisors.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related area or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) plus three years of experience in program management required. Develops and implements program ideas into successful academic and research programs; demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills also required.
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Business, Communication, or similar.
- 3+ years of experience in project or program management.
- 3+ year of experience supervising or mentoring students from different backgrounds.
- Experience supporting administrators, directors, or faculty leaders.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills for engaging different stakeholders.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with outstanding attention to detail and record keeping.
- Ability to utilize strong organizational, administrative, and communication skills.
- Ability to adapt to changing environments and foster a collaborative, inclusive work culture.
Preferences
- MEd or Master's degree in Education, Business, Policy and Public Administration, Communication, or similar.
- 4+ years of experience working with undergraduate students
- 4+ years of experience in project or program management, preferably in collaboration with academic, industry, and community entities.
- 4+ years of experience supervising or mentoring students.
- Understanding of how to apply student development theory to programmatic and curricular-focused trainings and events.
