Job Summary
Education Program Facilitators provide on the floor facilitation, greeting, and day-to-day logistics coordination for field trip programs at the Natural History Museum of Utah with K-12 students and teachers. This position provides orientations, informally engages with guests in the galleries, assists in directing groups to scheduled areas such as the lunchroom, provides exceptional customer service, reports attendance daily, and ensures museum policies are carried-out. The Education Program Facilitator is a guest-facing position and is an integral part of making field trip visitors feel welcome at NHMU. When time allows, facilitators collaborate with Education Coordinators to assist with the design and production of activities as needed in relation to the field trip program. This position is a year round position working both during the school year and summer.
Responsibilities
Essential Position Functions:
- Greet and welcome field trip guests as part of the field trip program.
- Facilitate day-to-day logistics coordination of group movement through the building with arrivals, departures, and lunches.
- Deliver extraordinary customer service to all Museum guests, staff, and volunteers.
- Engage with guests in galleries to enhance visitor experience and encourage respectful museum behavior.
- Facilitate and provide support for on-site education programs with K-12 students and teachers.
- Assist with the development, evaluation and refinement of NHMU's K-12 student and teacher science education programs.
- Collaborate with Field Trip and Teacher Resources Manager in establishing short and long-term goals for assigned program(s).
- Contribute to Museum wide strategic goals including connecting with people and leading with science.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate's degree in a related field or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) required. Two years of related experience, ability to use logic and reasoning to prioritize tasks, expertise using MS Office software, and demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills also required. Database experience preferred. Bachelor's degree in a related field may be preferred.

Work Schedule Summary: School Year (September-May) Monday-Friday hours are between 9am-2:00pm. Exact schedule will be set with supervisor. Summer (June-August) Tuesday - Thursday 9am-4pm
