About the Role
This position is known as the Manager, Career Readiness, at Flinders University.
In this role, you will lead a committed team focused on supporting Flinders students to build the skills, confidence and experience they need for purposeful future careers. This role contributes directly to Flinders’ vision to change 10 million lives for the better by 2035 and aligns with the University’s strategic commitment to putting students first, strengthening industry partnerships, and creating impact with purpose.
You’ll oversee the delivery of highquality career learning, both curriculumembedded and cocurricular, while driving the adoption of innovative, futurefocused tools and approaches. Working closely with academic staff, employers, internal stakeholders and the broader Curriculum Impact team, you will help create realworld learning opportunities that reflect workforce needs and support strong graduate outcomes.
Leading daytoday operations, you’ll foster an inclusive, collaborative team culture and use insights and data to continuously enhance our services. You will play a key role in strengthening pathways to employment by supporting students to build their jobseeking capabilities and by connecting them with employers and industry partners. Through this work, you’ll help create a fearless, futureready university experience that makes a meaningful difference for every student.

About You
As our ideal candidate, you’ll bring a strong commitment to student success and a genuine passion for empowering graduates to turn their education into meaningful career pathways. You have handson experience integrating career learning into the curriculum, and you know how to partner effectively with academic staff to design and enhance careerfocused learning that aligns with discipline needs and future workforce expectations.
As a leader, you enjoy guiding teams through complex, fastmoving environments and have experience coordinating services, systems and initiatives that strengthen students’ employability. You’re confident working with internal and external stakeholders to create opportunities that lead to real employment outcomes.
You think strategically while staying grounded in daytoday delivery, balancing leadership, service coordination and continuous improvement with ease. You’re curious, proactive and energised by innovation, especially when it involves new tools, technologies or ideas that elevate the student experience. You draw on data and insights to refine services, demonstrate impact and drive thoughtful, evidencebased change.

Office of the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Students)
The Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Students) provides administrative support to key strategic and operational functions of the University’s student-related and academic services. Under the general portfolio, the Office team support Portfolio leadership and facilitate dialogue between key service areas to help the Portfolio ensure Flinders’ educational offerings are innovative, of assured quality, and are student centred. Prescribed Conditions for Employment
- A current Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check which is satisfactory to the University will be required by Flinders University before the successful applicant can commence in this position. A criminal record will not automatically disqualify a candidate from consideration. Each case will be assessed on its individual merits and relevance to the inherent requirements of the role.
- It is a requirement of this position that the incumbent maintain a current Working With Children Check which is satisfactory to the University in accordance with the Child Safety (Prohibited Persons) Act 2016 (SA).
How to Apply and Information

- Sound knowledge of contemporary career learning and employability practice in higher education, including curriculum embedded career learning, real world experiences, and the development of graduate capability aligned to workforce and societal needs.
- Demonstrated experience in the operational leadership and coordination of services within a complex higher education environment, including oversight of systems, processes, and resources to achieve agreed objectives.
- Experience working collaboratively with academic staff, employers, and internal stakeholders to implement initiatives that support student learning, employment opportunities, and applied experiences across diverse disciplines.
- Ability to interpret and apply data to inform service delivery, continuous improvement, planning, evaluation, and reporting.
